Inn of the Good Shepherd, Sarnia, comes by in a big food truck every Wednesday in summer and fall to drop off fresh fruit and vegetables. Mid-summer, they added frozen meat.
That's awesome, except that particular mid-summer week was the week our freezer died... One was found at the village hardware -- shop local! -- and all was well. As the summer progressed, though, so did the volume of vegetables. Again, that's awesome, and we were able to distribute most, but not all of it. Another freezer was added -- this time a donation from a villager! As we are church ladies, and as it might as well be added to the creed that we do not let food spoil, we chopped and stewed and pickled and froze (in our new freezers) in the hours/days after the truck came. We are prepared for a community lunch or two, and for anyone who needs frozen vegetables come winter. If you wish information on this, come see us on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2 pm. (The schedule is on the hall door.) Or send us an email. Use the little envelope icon in the footer below to do that.
