An ending and a beginning

As you know, we have a lot going on at St. Matthew's. Since turning the church building over to the diocese, we have been able to run from the hall:
  • worship services, studies, and social justice events
  • a food bank, food workshops and community meals
  • a sewing circle
  • a monthly medical clinic and a yearly low-income tax clinic

It has been good for us and good for the community!
Why did we turn the building over to the diocese? With astronomical insurance and utility bills, falling eavestroughs and interior plaster, resident church bees with their abundance of honey, ever-increasing mold, and few bodies sitting in the pews, our ministry moved across the street, where we are happily, as you can see in the list above, continuing a St. Matthew's presence.
Our parish has not been disestablished, but rather moved across the street.
At this stage, the church building needs to be deconsecrated. The service will happen on Sunday, October 26, at 1:30 pm. Bishop Townshend will preside.
We would love for you to join us!
If you have any questions about this, write here, or see one of us. We're happy to talk about it!
See you, we hope, on the 26th.
